Lawrence
P. Filippi grew up in a household that was filled with talk
of building and construction.
His father was a building contractor based in Chicago's western
suburbs. HIs father built homes, offices and commercial buildings
of all kinds in the Chicago area. Lawrence would accompany
his father to his office, to construction sites and to meetings
with architects.
It was this early exposure to the building industry that Lawrence
developed an interest in architecture.
He went on to the University of Illinois School of Architecture
and graduated with honors in 1970. He started his architectural
firm after graduation and continued on the family tradition
but from the architectural side.
Since his start in 1970, the small firm of Lawrence P.
Filippi has developed a long list of clients in both commercial
and residential architecture. Through early exposure to
the variety of building types his father handled, Lawrence
has eagerly explored many types of buildings. He has successfully
taken on projects that include banks, office buildings,
restaurants, grocery stores, churches, municipal buildings,
movie theaters and country clubs.
